What happens inside the converter?

In the converter, gases would travel through a dense honeycomb structure that is created with ceramic and would be coated with the catalysts. By using the honeycomb structure, the gases would be in contact with a bigger area of catalyst at one time, thus being converted more efficiently and at a faster rate.
