Effects of Oxides of Nitrogen
• On Health:
Low concentrations of NOx may cause skin, respiratory, or eye irritation, or, result in the accumulation of fluid in lung tissues some hours after the exposure stops, which may be fatal. Serious cases of eye irritation may also result in visual impairment. A high concentration of NOx, is extremely toxic, and when breathed in by humans, can cause rapid, burning spasms, throat swelling, reduced oxygen intake, an even larger accumulation of fluids in lungs and possibly, death. NOx, when reacted with aerosols in the air, can also cause respiratory problems.
